Kaedyn the Day After Chemo

Look how much fun Kaedyn is having the day after chemo.  Prayers continue to help him and this picture says it all!

Kaedyn received chemo, meds and a flu shot yesterday 12/15.  He could not get the flu shot by IV so he had to get the injection.  He did great.  His port was pulled out by accident so he started bleeding pretty bad and had to get reaccessed.  All in all it was not the best day.  Kaedyn left Shands with a smile though.  Imagine that! One postitive thing is we talked about Kaedyn’s “Make A Wish” adventure while there.  We will sign up next month since he has to be 2 1/2.  I am hoping  we will go during the summer so bubba (Kaleb) won’t miss school.  It will be for the four of us.  His wish will be to go to a zoo and get a back stage experience hopefully with someone awesome like Jack Hanna.  They do the most amazing things for these children.  Thank you to all those who donate to this foundation.  We donated prior to Kaedyn getting sick.  I never expected to be apart of the experience.  I am grateful Kaedyn will have this adventure.  It will be something special for him and he truly deserves deserves it!

Sad news another child passed away from cancer.  His name is Brandon and we asked that you pray for him at times in this blog.  God be with the family of this precious child.  Please someone find a cure.
Please pray for sweet little Paxten who is having a bone marrow transplant as this is typed.  She too has Infantile Leukemia.  She relapsed not long ago which means her cancer is very aggressive.  Let’s not forget about Tyler and his family.  Tyler had a long hard fight, but due to harshness of the chemo his little body was unable to continue the battle.  Paxten also had the same conditioning chemo so let’s start praying early for her.  Thank you so much for caring about these little children.
Love,
Shelsie

It is always great to hear that Kaedyn is doing we and we are thankful to our Lord for answering our prayers for him. But it hurts deeply to see these children suffer and die and we can’t help but wonder why. When I lost my son, I knew he was with Jesus and that helped, but being human and selfish, I wanted him here with me. It is so very hard to remember that this is just temporary and that our real home is in heaven with our Lord. We continue to pray for the families and their children who have cancer of any kind.

      Dear Bill & Lenore,
We hope you have a Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year. Thanks for your prayers and support through this last year. It has been great reading your posts to Kaedyn’s blog and the inspiration you are to our family. I shed some tears when I read your response and the wonderful attitude you have concerning the loss of your son. I am sorry you had to deal with such sadness, and you are right about our real home the one that really matters being in Heaven.
      Love,
      NanNan

Thank you for sharing. Thankful that day 12/15 is behind Kaedyn and each of you. And as I was looking at the pics (thanks for sharing) I thought, wow, what a champion, and super trooper for sure all he has gone through…. and now let’s go have some fun, smile. Wonderful. And yes Make a Wish is such a miracle for sure in and of itself. I was a hospital chaplain at the Emory Affiliated Hospitals, Atlanta, Ga. and I would visit the Children’s Healthcare Hospital there, and amazing work they do. And I remember
the Doctors relating to us and our supervisor as well. Yes, these children are ill, but they are children First ! I so agree.
I have read each precious child’s name you have listed. I am praying for each one, for a healing/miracles/and restoration, and life to them, and added strength for their families in Jesus name. Also Brandon …ahh he fought a good fight, praying for his loved ones, the comfort of Jesus will cradle them through this time, and in the days and months to follow. My heart is so touched by each story.
I like to remember (paraphrase) a quote I read at my supervisor’s desk one day, after work. I was on-call, and we used that room for our “office” when on-call. The Quote I found goes something like this: You share your story, and I share my story with you, and somewhere in our stories there is common ground…. there comes an intersection where my story finds a bond with yours, and at that point, is the spark of Divinity (the Divine, hand of the Lord ministering to us, and we to each other)… that is what you are doing… as you are there, you are a light to others.. love you, martha smith

      Dear Martha,
Yes, we are thankful that last Thursday is behind us. I love the pictures also and when I/we look at them we feel blessed for the progress Kaedyn has made. Thank you for praying and for caring about each of the children mentioned in this blog. It is so sad when we hear about one not making it. I am so thankful we have Heaven to look forward to without sadness and suffering.
And thank you dear friend for sharing the thoughts about your story and my story. You are and have been a light to us. Thank you for caring and sharing your love.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
      Love,
      NanNan
