It has been 3 weeks already and this is still new to me. I think I have cried enough tears here lately that would last me a lifetime.
There is not much going on here at Shands. Kaedyn will finish his 5 day dose of steroids tonight. He has been one hungry boy. He was down to 28 lbs and is almost at 31. They had him on a appetite stimulant but decided the steroids was enough. I think we will put him back on the stimulant tomorrow evening if his appetite decreases. He will have one more dose of chemo and that will be Sunday for this month. The next cycle will begin on day 31 and we are at day 20. I don’t have the next cycle yet but I am waiting for it. They promised it to be here and ready tomorrow. I haven’t heard any word on a donor yet. I’m assuming no one has contacted the transplant coordinator back. So our specific prayer is for someone to contact her ASAP.
It seems silly for us to be here but Kaedyn’s ANC (immune system) is 0. It has been for a while and I don’t think it will go up much. They are being so cautious with him and I appreciate it that. Kaedyn and I both have cabin fever but as I tell him when he cries I don’t want to be here “this is only until you get better and then we can go home”.
Last night my sister and I were giggling at Kaedyn’s future plans. He wants to go to Daycare. I am very shocked about this as he always wanted to stay home with mommy. He watches from a window here and see’s many kids playing together on the playground and then their parents pick them up. I asked him if he would miss me and he says you will pick me up like all the mommies do. I never thought this day would come.. Sigh, but I still have lots of time. It will be another year before he is healthy enough to be surrounded by kids. He also has his future cockatiel pet name and all the toys he wants for the cage. My sweet boy is such a dreamer and I love him for that.

Hi Bill,
If you are a match they will contact you. I am by law not allowed to know the potential donors names or contact info.
So I may never know unless the donor agrees to give me contact info.

Going through a lot of fatigue here, in and out of the bed, and back in again. Dr. going to check my heart next week. But please know my prayers are with you, and my love and praying for a donor, asap. I know the Lord is going before each of you preparing the way for healing and restoration. Thank you for the updates. I look forward to them, as I know the Lord is making a way of healing for Kaedyn. Take care of yourselves, and know many love you, and are praying.
