Seriously guys, did Kaedyn need 4 packs of Skittles? Lol. They adore Kaedyn.
Gene, Pat and Will came to visit for his tri-weekly appointment.
All blood work looks great. He is also off 1 more medication and the Swimmer’s Ear is gone!
Tomorrow, we are making our first beach trip since last summer. We have to be extremely careful that Kaedyn doesn’t get a sunburn. A sunburn could stimulate GVHD (Graft vs. Host Disease) of the skin. Dr. E also said, he can’t swallow the salt water and I should keep him from touching sea critters. I laughed since Kaedyn loves bugs and all critters.
I read information from another Transplant Mom that each appointment they have a list or idea about a new adventure. The Doctor approves or disapproves based on the safety for the transplant kiddo. Today, we had one yes (an adventure to the beach) and one no (Kaedyn’s cat can’t come home) yet. We are playing it safe and will go along with everything they say. Our goal is to never enter the hospital again!
I spoke with some folks today about beginning our Transplant Housing plans. If anyone knows of/or works at an apartment complex in Gainesville that is extremely clean, and would work with me and the Shands staff, please private message me. I also plan to start doing some fundraising projects in Gainesville to help. Anyone interested in hosting a fundraiser may message me as well.
Kaedyn will come back in 3 weeks for blood work and the same IV medication he gets monthly. Dr. E was almost convinced to move him to monthly, but decided it was a little soon for that. After 6 months, she says. Kaedyn really doesn’t mind coming, and it’s always reassuring for me. Six months is approaching quick enough.
At his 6 months appointment we will do another Bone Marrow Biopsy and then not again till 1 year. After that, we are hoping and praying for never again.
Priceless photo of Kaedyn and his sweet friend Mallie
